International Women in Engineering Day 2022

Yesterday our Primary Five girls were very lucky to take part in an Enthuse Engineering Programme in St. Patrick’s College, Dungannon to celebrate Women’s Engineering Day. They received a warm welcome from staff and pupils from the school. Female employees from Specdrum Engineering explained the opportunities available within their company and how women are encouraged to join their work force. A short video showed the children of the pulleys and conveyor belts that are made in their factory. All pupils were then given the challenge to work in groups to make their own conveyor frame with pulleys using cardboard, elastic bands, sticks and glue. The staff from Specdrum then gave prizes to those whose machines were able to transport gravel. We would like to thank Mrs McHugh and all staff from St.Patricks College for hosting our pupils today and in particular to MrCurry for organising today’s Enthuse Partnership Programme to celebrate Women’s Engineering Day.
